Jared Kopel is an accomplished securities and general commercial litigator with extraordinary experience and accomplishments. Jared has represented individuals and companies in approximately 75 shareholder lawsuits and more than 150 Government investigations. He practiced for 26 years with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C., including 21 years as a partner, where he learned the requirements for representing technology companies. Before joining Wilson Sonsini, he worked for 6 ½ years with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., including three years as a supervisor in the Division of Enforcement.

Jared's securities litigation experience includes representing defendants in class action and derivative lawsuits; litigating significant corporate transactions such as tender offers and mergers and acquisitions; conducting internal investigations; and counseling on securities regulation matters. His practice includes drafting briefs; managing discovery; taking and defending depositions; representing clients before the SEC and preparing Wells Submissions on behalf of clients for submission to the SEC; oral argument before trial and appellate courts; and appearing at fact-finding conferences and mediations. Jared's SEC defense practice includes defending clients in investigations and litigation involving allegations of insider trading and financial statement fraud. Jared's clients have included Borland Software, Micron Technology, North Face, TASER International, OmniVision Technologies, Quovadx, SmarTalk Teleservices, Symmetricom, 3Com, Read-Rite, Montgomery Securities, Microchip Technology, USA Detergents and Wind River Systems. He has also represented current and/or former officers and directors of Leap Wireless, Finisar, Actel, Avocent, Silicon Storage Technology and Mercury Interactive.

Jared is affiliated with Bergeson, LLP in San Jose, California, which specializes in securities, commercial and intellectual property litigation. Bergeson, LLP provides high quality, cost effective legal services, and has represented many prominent companies and individuals, as well as hedge funds, broker-dealers and venture capital firms. Jared earned a B.A. from Columbia University and a law degree from New York University. He also was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Business Journalism at Columbia University.
